- SEAI offers heat pump grants, ranging from €3,500 up to €6,500, depending on the type of heat pump you choose.
Save money on your bills
As energy prices continue to rise, many people in Ireland are turning to renewable energy sources to help save on the cost of heating their homes.
With most heat pumps, you generate 3 - 4 kilowatts (kW) for every 1 kW of energy you supply, this significantly reduces the amount of energy you have to spend overall.
What are heat pumps?
Heat pumps come in a variety of types, however they mostly work similar to your fridge. Air-source heat pumps work by compressing air from outside your home and raising the temperature before distributing the heat through your home via indoor units or radiator systems.
The same technology is used for ground-source heat pumps, but instead of taking heat from the air, it is sourced from below the surface of the earth. When a heat pump is connected to your pipe system, you can also get hot water from your tap.
When the process is reversed, heat pumps can also be used to cool your home during the warmer days of summer, meaning you can benefit from a comfortable climate in your home year round.
